Tamil Nadu popular women’s clothing chain Co-optex will soon be available

online. Investing about Rs 100 crores, the apex co-operative body for handlooms wants to attract more young women shoppers and is planning a makeover. On the anvil is revamping of stores, product evaluation, introduction of IT solutions and supply chain monitoring. The hope is that online sale of products in India and abroad will give a push to exports, which currently contribute only Rs 5 crores to overall sales. Co-optex, which runs over 200 showrooms across the country with a total retail turnover of Rs 200 crores, has set an ambitious target of Rs 800 crores this year.

Established in 1935, Co-optex promotes over 1,175 handloom weaver co-operative societies, supporting 2 lakh 30,000 weavers in Tamil Nadu. The multi-hued butterfly symbol stands for quality, durability and fair trade. Co-optex silk saris are 100 per cent pure and natural silk which is used for both warp and weft. Pure golden zari threads are used. Textile products include: bed spreads, bed sheets, bed linen, pillow covers, furnishing, carpets, curtains, towels, table mats, dhotis, saris, lungis, suitings, shirtings, churidhar materials.
