Aiming to make designer wear accessible and affordable to a larger mass,

designer wear boutique, Kimaya, owned by Pradeep and Neha Hirani has introduced a new brand Karmik at the recent Lakme Fashion Week Summer/Resort 2012. The brand has been created to gap the void that exists in women’s ethnic wear segment of the Indian contemporary fashion market.

Presenting saris, salwars-kameez and tunics, the ‘Karmik Collection’ has fabulous fabrics and prints. The design talents of India’s top couturiers like Rohit Bal, Anamika Khanna, J J Valaya, Rocky S, Falguni and Shane Peacock, Ranna Gill, Shantanu and Nikhil, Rina Dhaka, Neeta Lulla and Kavita Bhartia presented a great affordable range of Indian designer wear.

With this new brand, the company plans to target Tier II cities like Ludhiana, Chandigarh, Jaipur, Hyderabad, Surat and Ahmedabad, which are showing demand for such collection. The collection will include saris, salwar kameez and kurtis that will be created keeping in mind Indian textiles, motifs and crafts with a view to contemporize the classic Indian silhouettes and designs in order to give a modern edge.

Karmik will be launched through 60 stores in three years. The first three would be launched in April 2012 at the Express Avenue Mall in Chennai, UB City Mall in Bangalore and Moments Mall in Delhi, mapping India from north to south. With an investment of around Rs 60 crores, the company expects to achieve a turnover of around Rs 250 crores by the end of next financial year.
