The core curriculum conveying the buying cycle with a focus on marketing planning, branding, PR and social media. The programme also incorporates key practical elements supported by a range of technical facilities.
You will develop buying skills such as range building and negotiation and gain knowledge about fabrics and testing techniques. You will also study sourcing and supply.

Course content in the first year involves three shared modules plus one specialist module relating to your chosen pathway. You will learn about textile materials and commercial garment production and develop CAD skills which will facilitate the production of professional presentations. You will also be introduced to the roles and responsibilities of a typical buying office. You will be taught about the life cycle of a product from concept stage through to delivery on to the shop floor, and key aspects of trading. You will then build on this experience in the second year, where you will study two modules of your chosen specialist pathway, along with one shared module.


Typical entry requirements 
Art and Design Foundation or
112 points from at least 2 A ‘levels or
BTEC Extended Diploma DMM or
International Baccalaureate: 26+ Points including Art and Design
GCSEs - Five GCSEs grades A* - C  (9-4) including English Language or Literature at grade C/4 or above.
Access - Pass Access with 30 Level 3 credits at Merit (or equivalent) and GCSE  English (Language or Literature) at grade C/4 or above.
We also accept the BTEC First Diploma plus two GCSEs including English at grade C/4 or above (if required as part of our standard requirement).
International students
If English is not your first language an IELTS score of 6.0 overall with 5.5 in each band, or equivalent when you start the course is essential. English Language tuition, delivered by our British Council accredited Centre for English Language Learning, is available both before and throughout the course if you need it.
