Adidas is once again suing American footwear company Skechers over the alleged copying of one of its designs. According to Thompson Reuters, the German sportswear giant has this time filed a lawsuit in a court of law in Oregon claiming that Skechers has copied its ‘Springblade’ concept for a similar design, the Mega Flex sneaker.

Adidas is accusing Skechers of using the patented Springblade technology in its own designs without actually investing in the creation and development of it. Springblade, which Adidas created three years ago, consists of a midsole featuring blades which are meant to thrust the runner forward.

”This pattern of unlawful behaviour and freeloading in the industry is outrageous and must end,” Adidas said in a statement. “We will take every legal measure possible to protect and defend our innovations.”

This is the second time in less than a year that Adidas has taken Skechers to court over alleged copyright infringement. Last year the company filed a lawsuit against Skechers accusing it of copying its popular Stan Smith sneaker. The German firm won a preliminary injunction, and is awaiting trial in May 2017.
