Reliance Retail revenues rise 21.2 percent

Reliance Retail revenues increased by 21.2 percent to Rs 17,640 crores during the fiscal year ended March 31, 2015 on the back of a wide product offerings with value proposition. The company, which maintained the status of India's largest retailer, said it achieved profit before depreciation, interest and taxes (PBDIT) of Rs 784 crores for the year.

In the fourth quarter ended March 31, the company said its revenue grew by 31.1 percent to Rs 4,788 crores despite slow consumption growth and challenging macroeconomic environment. During the year under review, Reliance Retail added 930 stores. As on March 31, 2015, the company operated 2,621 stores across 200 cities.

Reliance Market, the cash and carry format, continued its geographical expansion and now operates 43 stores across the country, it said, adding it served over 1.5 million registered members. It partners with kirana and small enterprises, among others. In fashion and lifestyle, Reliance Trends has over 200 stores and sells over 150,000 garments per day, whereas Reliance Footprint, the multi-brand family footwear store format has over 200 stores across 100 cities. In the digital sector, the company has over 1,000 stores.

During the year, Reliance Retail grew its presence through partnerships with global brands, including Marks & Spencer, Grand Vision and Payless Shoesource, the release added.
