The human resource department at Flipkart will now report directly to chief executive officer Kalyan Krishnamurthy.

Key teams, including category design management, which Krishnamurthy headed before becoming CEO, as well as private labels, customer shopping, and marketing, continue to report to him directly. The engineering team also reports to Krishnamurthy.

Earlier this year, Flipkart saw senior-level exits, including head of Ekart, senior-vice president of product management and chief marketing officer.

Nitin Seth, who joined the company as chief people officer in March 2016, continued to handle HR after he was promoted as chief administrative officer and subsequently chief operating officer. His additional responsibilities include heading Ekart, which is the logistics division of the company, customer experience, strategy-to-execution capabilities and corporate functions.

The company is in search of an HR head who will report to Krishnamurthy. Flipkart is in talks with Jasper Infotech, the owner of online marketplace Snapdeal, on the finer points of an impending acquisition, including redistribution of the team and a round of funding from SoftBank.

Flipkart is India's largest e-commerce company. It will close the current financial year with a sales growth of close to 40 per cent over the last fiscal.

The e-commerce major expects to witness a much larger growth in 2017-18 as it is seeing a good traction in sales across several categories.
