Amazon India is the most trusted online brand, says survey

A recent survey placed world’s largest e-tailer Amazon India as the most trusted online shopping brand, after homegrown Snapdeal and Flipkart. The other firms to figure in the top 10 include eBay, Myntra, Yepme, Jabong, Naaptol, ShopClues and Askmebazaar. The survey was conducted among 2,500 respondents, in the age group 21-50, across 16 cities. The findings were compiled in The Brand Trust Report, India Study 2016. It’s an annual report by TRA.

Amazon India has 36 per cent of the trust pie. Together these three brands make up 76 per cent of online shopping trust pie, informed N Chandramouli, CEO, TRA. This was for the online category but overall, it’s the South Korean smartphone maker Samsung mobiles that has emerged as the most trusted brand in the country followed by Sony and LG. Tata Group is the only Indian corporate to figure in the top five. The other trusted brand is Nokia.

The top 20 most trusted brands which have improved their rankings over last year include Samsung mobiles, Sony, Nokia, Honda, ICICI Bank, Maruti Suzuki, HDFC Bank, Airtel, Hero MotoCorp, Dove, Lux, Samsung, Pepsi and Puma. In the FMCG category, Cavinkare is the most trusted brand followed by Nirma. Patanjali claims the fourth position. In thw food category, Maggi leads the way.

The brands which slipped in rankings are LG, Tata, Bajaj and Apple.
