Amritsar designer Tanya Suchu will showcase at London Fashion Week

Amritsar-based Inter National Institute of Fashion Design (INIFD) has opened its international campus in London and is now going to be the first-ever official knowledge partner for London Fashion Week to be held in September. Design student Tanya Suchu is the only one from the city to qualify for the study programme.

Suchu has already had a month-long internship and learning programme and is just back from the Lakme Fashion Week. She is now all set to gear up for the London Fashion Week and will be designing a collection. The 21-year-old is excited and looking forward to witnessing global fashion at close quarters.

Suchu has worked with stylists and designers from the house of Yves Saint Laurent as well as interacted with the best global celebrity stylists and has reached a conclusion that global fashion trends are in sync with the Indian market. She says that India has become one of the biggest market for global brands, hi-street as well as street wear. So, the collections that she saw at the various ramp shows are in sync with the Indian sensibilities. However, Indian traditional influences do reflect in many of the global designs, she found.

INIFD Amritsar was inaugurated in 2010.
