Once again in 2016, Coachella is the place to be for the ultimate in street style inspiration. Famed for celebrity appearances, it is in fact the eclectic crowd of style-conscious festival goers that makes the event such a hub of fashion brilliance and inventiveness. Always with their finger on the pulse, Trendstop's cool hunters didn't miss the opportunity to report on the most innovative style choices of this creative crowd and they have now distilled the copious inspiration into three main trends exclusively for FashionUnited.

Sheer Layer Styling

This is a direction that seems to have been transposed directly from a Paris or Milan catwalk but is so much more interesting against a sandy Californian desert backdrop. Juxtaposition is the name of the game: underwear with evening wear, ultra long with extra short, see-through cover-ups, fringes and embroidery, chiffon and sun shades.

Dark Daring Lips

Who needs sunscreen when you can protect your lips with a healthy layer of dark and fruitilicious lipstick. Like every other detail at Coachella, make-up verges to the extreme. And if eyes are behind mirrored lenses, the lips will do the talking. It's a dark and daring direction that will also last into the winter, matching the Raspberry Oxblood tones we've seen emerging for F/W 17/18.

The Slit Skirt

With a simple but effective update, a basic summer staple like the jersey tube skirt gets lifted from frumpy to sexy with a quick snip of the scissors. Pair with another festival wardrobe must have, the crop top, for the perfect balance of lengths and volumes.
