Crocs India appoints Deepak Chhabra its managing director

US footwear brand Crocs has appointed Deepak Chhabra as its new managing director for India business. Nissan Joseph, who has led Indian operations of the brand for three years, will take up the position of managing director of Croc Korea.

Chhabra has over two decades experience in retail, distribution, buying, merchandising and brand management. He will be responsible for the growth and expansion of the Crocs brand across India, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Maldives, read the statement. A post graduate in footwear technology and marketing from Footwear Design and Development Institute, 42-year-old Chhabra was earlier with brands like Reliance, Sketchers, Asics, Nike, Tag Heuer and Sprandi. Most recently, he served as vice president of Reliance Retail where he enjoyed a long career spanning close to a decade. He was based in Bangalore and spearheaded the expansion of Reliance Retail's operations to over250 stores across 110 cities.

Crocs entered India in 2007 through a joint venture with Chogori Retail which was later changed into franchise operation. The company later terminated its exclusive franchising agreement for India with Chogori Retail.
