FDCI chooses new board members

The Fashion Design Council of India (FDCI) held its election to choose board members and the results threw up quite a few surprises. Held once every three years, this time names that retained their positions as FDCI\'s Fellow Members include: David Abraham, Rohit Bal, JJ Valaya, Rohit Gandhi and Anju Modi. However, among the big ones who contested and lost are: Manish Malhotra, Leena Singh, Rina Dhaka and Wendell Rodricks.

Designers who have retained their positions as associate members are Abhishek Gupta, Gautam Rakha and Poonam Bhagat. The newly elected fellow members are Ashish N Soni, former FDCI President, Namrata Joshipura, Associate Member last year and Payal Jain. The new associate members are: Pankaj Ahuja, Reynu Taandon, Gaurav Gupta, Aneeth Arora and Samant Chauhan. Those who were on the last Board but are not a part of it now are Suneet Varma, Tarun Tahiliani, Wendell Rodricks, Rajesh Pratap Singh, Varun Bahl, Niki Mahajan and Paras Bairoliya.

Those who didn't contest this year include Suneet Varma, TT, Rajesh Pratap Singh, Varun Bahl, Niki Mahajan and Paras Bairoliya. The last elections were held in 2011, after the famous split and make-up by a group of designers from the FDCI.
