During the holiday season starting with Black Friday sale, Amazon, the world’s largest online retailer, is selling products from 5,000 Indian sellers to customers in the US. It is offering a lucrative sales channel to sellers, which even its rivals Snapdeal and Flipkart would not be able to match.

In preparation for the huge demand expected during the holiday season, Amazon has said it has already shipped about 1,000,000 products from Indian sellers to its warehouses in the US. These products will also be available for one-day delivery through the company’s subscription service, Amazon Prime.

According to analytics firm comScore, online retail spending in the US in November and December will exceed 70.1 billion dollar, an increase of roughly 14 percent over 2014, totally. Amazon will account for the single largest chunk of the online spend.

An Amazon spokeswoman said that the holiday season offers a very lucrative opportunity for Indian sellers and Amazon has done a lot of work in preparing them. They have provided the sellers with information on what kind of products (toys, electronics and cooking products) do well at this time of the year, she added. Besides, Amazon has also helped sellers become eligible to take part in promotions such as lightning deals and other such offers that are very popular with customers and they have helped sellers transport their goods on time.
