Brand Factory, Future Group’s round the year discount retail chain, plans to open 10 new stores in Pune, Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh and Kolkata in the next fiscal. The stores will span 20,000 square feet to 50,000 square feet area. Recently, the 42nd store was launched in Bangalore. Spread over 17,000 square feet area, this is the eight store in the city itself. In Hyderabad, Brand Factory has 10 stores, in Kolkata, there are four and in Pune three. Chennai has none so far and the company plans to open at least four-six there.

Brand Factory sells fashion apparel which constitutes 85 per cent of the merchandise. Besides, it also sells footwear, luggage and accessories in all its stores and few other categories such as home linen, sunglasses and junk jewellery in some of its 42 stores across the country. The newly opened store in Bengaluru offers over 200 fashion brands such as Pepe, UCB, Raymond, Levi’s, Lee etc. with over 16 categories of merchandise including men’s formals and casuals, youth wear, women’s western and ethnic wear, sportswear, footwear, accessories, kids’ wear and luggage.

Brand Factory is India’s only large format discount store that offers 20-70 per cent discounts throughout the year. This is possible because as Suresh Sadhwani, business head, Brand Factory, points out, the company sells last season’s fashion apparel. Also, a lot of stuff is especially manufactured for Brand Factory. As such they pass on margins to customers as well as save on rental costs. The standalone stores are at less expensive locations and don’t cost high rentals.
