Dickies to invest Rs 20 crores over next two years to grow India biz

Williamson-Dickie Manufacturing Company, a global work-wear maker, *plans to invest Rs 20 crores in a two year time frame. *Dickies had inked an exclusive licensing agreement with ID Overseas to launch Dickies’ brand portfolio in the design, manufacturing, marketing and sale of licensed products in India, last November

Over the last 10 months of its operations, it has bagged one major client, Hyderabad-based Rainbow group and there are many others in the pipeline. The brand will focus on *establishing work-wear and performance wear in the Indian market. Currently, the company’s products are being manufactured at factories in and around Bangalore employing around a workforce of 15,000.

The company plans to bring the entire range of work wear and uniform solutions for healthcare, hospitality, school wear, industrial and also fire retardant clothing. Dickies India has been known worldwide for the quality of work wear products, and the company aims to establish the same identity in India. Its most popular work pants and shirts would also be unveiled that are globally known for best fit and performance.

The Indian licensee (ID Overseas) is a group company of Indian Designs Exports, which is one of the preferred suppliers to global brands. It has the capacity of producing two million garments per month. Dickies India will produce most of the work wear uniforms in-house and performance uniforms will be outsourced from vendors.
