Dutch denim brand G-Star Raw to launch five stores by end of 2016

Dutch denim brand G-Star Raw will be opening five new stores by the end of this year. It already has a store in Palladium Mall, Mumbai. The Dutch brand entered the Indian market last year in partnership with Genesis Luxury.

G-Star Raw will open five new stores in Delhi, NCR, Pune, Chennai and Bengaluru by the end of the year. American singer, rapper and record producer, Pharrell Williams will be the co-owner of the jeans brand. He will be involved at many creative levels including collections, advertising and business strategy. This move comes after two years of collaboration between G-Star and Williams’ company Bionic Yarn on a special collection ‘RAW for the Oceans’. An interesting initiative that turns ocean plastic into denim.

Nikhil Mehra, COO, Genesis Luxury, says that the denim industry has been one of the most promising category in India's apparel market and it is expected to grow at 15 per cent by 2018.
