Toonz Retail plans bigger play in smaller cities

Toonz Retail, which specialises in kids’ wear and toys, plans to open 20 stores in non-metros, by the end of this fiscal. The addition of 20 stores would take the total number of stores to 75 by 2014-15. The company, which has raised Rs 20 crores to carry out its planned expansion, currently has a network of 55 stores in 44 cities.

Apart from south, focus would also be on extending its footprint into the north and east markets. The company is growing at 50 percent annually and is aiming to cross Rs 100 crores turnover in the next three financial years. As of now, 60 percent of the company’s stores are located in Tier II, III cities. These contribute 55 percent share to the total sales.

The company has lined up stores in places such as Shimogha in Karnataka, Bengaluru, Pune, NCR, Varanasi, Lucknow, Bhubneshwar, Guwhati and Kanpur. Toonz Retail’s in-house brands Wowmom and and SuperYoung are also getting positive response from the consumers.
