Woodland eyes expanding offline as well as online retail

Looking a the rising number of customers logging onto the internet for shopping, Woodland has decided to grow its domestic e-commerce business. To achieve its aim, the footwear and apparel maker is creating new designs and collections exclusively for the online audience. Last year, the company’s share of e-commerce business was 12 percent of the total revenue of Rs 1,000 crores, which is now expected to increase to 15 percent this fiscal year.

The brick-and-mortar store count is also on the rise with the company planning to open 60 more to add to the existing network of 485 company-owned stores. The company also opened its second store in Salem and is in the process of opening more in Tiruchirapalli, Karur, Vellore, Puducherry, Nagercoil, Tuticorin and Tirunelveli in Tamil Nadu.

Today, Aero Group is a highly integrated firm with its own leather tanning units and production facilities in India, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, China, Vietnam, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Macau and Canada.
