Adventure gear and footwear maker Woodland has made a foray into eyewear category with the launch of 10 outdoor glasses starting with the price tag of Rs 4,000. To begin with, the range would be retailed at its flagship stores in metros, which would later be introduced in other cities.

The company’s target is to sell around 10,000 units from this summer season. Depending upon the consumer response, Woodland would add more models to the category. These products are only meant for outdoors and would have UV protection glass and interchangeable lenses with three modes, which could be set in according to different geographical regions. At present, Woodland is importing eyewear frames from Taiwan.

The company would also invest up to Rs 500 crores in the next five years to double its retail network to take the store count to 1,000 by 2020 from present 500. The company reported revenues of around Rs 1,000 crores in 2013-14 and aims to achieve Rs 2,500 crores by 2020 from Rs 1,300 crores expected in 2014-15.
