Reliance Retail, the retail subsidiary of India’s largest private company Reliance

Industries (RIL), is witnessing another top-level churn. Andrew Campbell, Chief Brand Officer of Reliance Retail, who was hired from the Thailand arm of the British retailer Tesco in early 2010, has stepped down to move to RIL. While this move follows the exit of Gwyn Sundhagul, ex-CEO of Reliance Retail, another official from the Thai team, who moved to RIL’s consumer businesses comprising insurance and telecom, in 2011. Arun Sirdeshmukh, CEO of Reliance Trends, has resigned to kick-start his own e-commerce venture.

Glenn Richardson, former executive of Wal Mart China, who is with Reliance Retail for last two years will fill in the post vacated by Campbell. Apart from relooking at its key people holding top positions, the group is also sharpening its focus on consumer businesses as it wants to balance its portfolio and de-risk its core business.

The company has had recently roped in former Wal-Mart China executives, Rob Cissell and Shwan Grey as the CEO and COO of Reliance Retail, respectively.
