Titan has entered the children’s watch segment with their brand Zoop. The watch brand has test-marketed

these watches with 26 designs in six cities including Bangalore, Chennai, Kolkata and Mumbai over a nine-month period. Now the brand is ready with 75 designs and plans to add few more. The watches are designed by an in-house team and then outsourced. The Zoop collection is priced between Rs 350 to Rs 900.

Titan is planning to make substantial investments towards advertising and promotion. The design of the watches takes into account what children want in a watch rather than what an adult feels children like. The idea is to give these timepieces a playful appeal with funky designs, keeping children’s sensibilities and penchant for fun in mind. At the same time they are designed to withstand the rough and tumble of a youngster’s world.

Features like dual-time, countdown timer, 50-year calendar, compass and stopwatch alarm are present in the digital collection to attract the gizmo-loving kids. The analog collection portrays floral motifs, luminescent dials and other interesting add-ons.

This is Titan’s second attempt at cracking the market for children’s watches. Nearly a decade ago, Titan came up with a brand called Dash, which was withdrawn as it did not meet the company’s expectations. Titan would be hoping this time it’s going to be lucky.
