Manish designs for Mumbai cops

A smart new look for Mumbai cops is in the offing. They will soon wear uniforms designed by Manish

Malhotra. From catwalk to the jailhouse, he has come a long way. The starched, stiff outfits will give way to Manish Malhotra’s New Age designs. Though exact details of the project — colors, cuts, styles — are still under wraps. The coarse fabric will hopefully be replaced by something more skin- and climate-friendly.

If you were to, say, walk into a police station, you would be greeted by a nattily-dressed constable. If the man who pulls you over for reckless driving is dressed out of the pages of a fashion magazine, you would probably be too dazed to even object and may submit to a fine without too much protest. Manish Malhotra who will host the final show at IIFA Awards 2010 to be held in Colombo, Sri Lanka, will bring the cops slap bang into the 21st century especially where sartorial sensibilities are concerned. A good example of modernization of the police force!
