Danish apparel chain Bestseller is planning to launch the kidswear brand ‘Name It’ and

casual wear brands ‘Selected’ and ‘Vila’ in India next year. Bestseller already sells casual wear labels Jack and Jones and Vero Moda through 11 exclusive brand outlets in India. Though the menswear label Jack and Jones makes up for most of the sales, Bestseller also has plans to push its other products and aims to open 100 retail stores in three years. The company is also looking to introduce casual wear label Selected Femme/Homme and the chic clothing line Vila after a year.

Bestseller is a family-owned clothing company founded in Denmark in 1975. It has collections for women, men and children. Today, Bestseller has more than 5,700 stores in 43 countries. These stores are built on close and loyal relationships between business partners and Bestseller with Bestseller being the main supplier.

The Indian retail market is estimated to be worth nearly $375 billion with the organized segment accounting for less than 10 per cent, but growing at around 14 per cent annually. The clothing or apparel segment makes up for 40 per cent, or $15 billion of the organized retail market, providing an inviting market for international players.
