Big Bazaar plans revenue boost through fashion

Retail chain Big Bazaar has decided to focus on fashion

merchandise to generate one-third of its revenues from the fashion business. Currently, the fashion segment contributes about a quarter of the revenues of the Future Group owned retail chain. After hiving off majority stake in its fashion flagship business Pantaloon to Aditya Birla Nuvo last year, to get rid of the debt burden, the company is now focussing on apparel category under Big Bazaar.

While unveiling its autumn-winter range at the stores, the company has also brought local celebrities on board to endorse the fashion merchandise to connect with its target audiences. Keeping the strategy of affordable fashion at centrestage, it is looking at moving away from the concept of hyper market to establish as value departmental stores.

Continueing with its plans of giving importance to fashion business, the company has decided to open about 15-20 new standalone Fashion at Big Bazaar (FBB) stores. At present, the company operates 29 such stores in the country.

The Future Group recently demerged its fashion businesses and relisted its company. Under the restructuring, all fashion brands held by Future Retail and Future Ventures were transferred to Future Lifestyle, which focuses on over 24 popular fashion brands and retail formats like Central, Brand Factory, Planet Sports, I m in and aLL.
