Two of India top brands Hindustan Unilever and Star Bazaar have come together for a social

cause to raise money for underprivileged children. It may be recalled that in September 2010, Hindustan Unilever and Star Bazaar joined hands in a program ‘India’s Favorites’. It was meant to raise money for underprivileged children and HUL products were available at a discount for a month, with five per cent of the sale proceeds donated to non-governmental organizations. This year the campaign has been repeated and is going on from August 29 to September 21. Brands that are part of the second edition include Vim, Surf, Axe, Vaseline, Dove, Clear, Kwality Walls, Knorr, Kissan and Brooke Bond Red Label, in addition to eight other brands from last year.

The number of stock keeping units this year has also increased compared to last year. Trent which runs Star Bazaar is looking to double collections this year through the initiative. Through the plan Unilever hopes to help more than a billion people improve their health and well-being, halve the environmental impact of its products, and source 100 per cent agricultural raw materials sustainably. According to Jamshed Daboo, CEO, Trent Hypermarket, actively supporting the local community is one of the promises the group has as part of the community plan. It believes in providing customers an opportunity to support good causes in a simple and meaningful way.
