Manyavar to venture into women’s range

Well-known ethnic wear brand Manyavar from Kolkata-based

Vedant Fashions, has plans to introduce a women’s ethnic range. The brand so far offered only men’s ethnic collection. It is also looking at expanding the retail footprint in overseas markets such as Nepal, Sri Lanka and the Middle East. It entered Bangladesh and Dubai markets in the last quarter of 2011.

The women’s range would be introduced under a different brand name, which the company has already got registered along with the new logo. Manyavar collection is currently available in 160 standalone stores across 61 cities and plans to set up nearly 500 stores by 2014-15 by setting up outlets in Tier II towns. The company aims to achieve a turnover of Rs 250 crores by March 2012.

For export markets, the merchandise would be from company’s factories in Kolkata. Between its four factories in Kolkata, Manyavar has a capacity to manufacture 10 lakh pieces a year. The company also offers ‘made to order’ ethnic wear products, with customised tailoring services.
