Uniqlo June store sales rise 20.5 percent

REPORT_ Uniqlo Japan same-store sales increased by 20.5

percent year-on-year while sales at its own stores increased by 24.7 percent in June 2013. Total sales including online sales increased by 24.6 percent.

Same-store sales rose year-on-year in June, thanks in part to the favourable weather, as well as due to strong sales of the summer items featured in our latest advertising campaign. Uniqlo opened five stores and closed three during the month.

Fast Retailing is a holding company of the specialty retailer Uniqlo, which is the Group's mainstay operation, and has enjoyed strong growth by offering high-quality casualwear at reasonable prices. The first Uniqlo store opened in 1984. After a period of falling sales and income, company tried to boost performance by expanding its women's wear business. Since 2001, it has expanded worldwide operations to include the UK, China, Hong Kong, South Korea, the United States, France, Singapore, Russia, Taiwan, Malaysia, Thailand and the Philippines.
