Ritu Beri celebrates 20 years in fashion at WLIFW

Well-known fashion designer, Ritu Beri made news after receiving the Chevalier Des Arts et Des Lettres award — one of the highest civilian awards by the French government impressed everyone with her latest collection at the ongoing Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week Spring-Summer 2011 (WLIFW). She used the opening day of the gala event as a fitting platform to celebrate her completing 20 years in the industry, with columnist-author Shobha De as her showstopper.


Beri known for her well-cut designs, full of youthful charm, teamed up with oversized hats, roses and headgears. But conceptual embroidery, texturing and mixing fabric, combined with various stitching techniques forms were of a unique style. The silhouettes were mainly hand draped with a deep sense and need for utility. There was also a mix of contemporary and vintage Indian sensibilities. Shobha De was the highlight of the show when she walked in an elegant black and white sari.
