Wendell Roderick will showcase at the Mumbai fashion week’s

winter/festive 2011 edition in August. This probably marks the end of a dispute between the Goa-based designer and the influential fashion body when Roderick walked out of the fashion week last December. The designer then joined hands with the competing Delhi fashion week, going on to become a board member of the high-profile event. For about a year, he threw in his lot with the Delhi fashion week, anchoring their events. On the other hand, his return to Mumbai doesn’t mean he has turned his back on Delhi. He’s still on the FDCI (Fashion Design Council of India) board.

The designer launched his own line in 1990. Three years later, he shifted to Goa where he designed elegant clothes inspired by the Tibetan monasteries, the harem at Istanbul, and the tribal symbols of Vishnu and Shiva. His creations have a mixed touch of Indian geometry and a cool Goan look. He is fond of utilizing very raw Indian fabrics. Colors are highly experimental and his linear cuts are very impressive.
