Da Milano, India’s premium high fashion leather accessories brand is chalking out major expansion plans

for the domestic market. The brand, which started off by exporting leather garments to Europe and the US 20 years ago, is now aggressively looking at spreading its footprint within India. With an eye on the tourist inflow, the brand has just opened its store in Jaipur. “We are now looking at Kolkata, Chennai and Bangalore, where we don’t have a presence yet,” says Sahil Malik, Managing Director, Da Milano. By August 2010, they plan to open two stores each in Kolkata and Chennai. In Bangalore, the brand is still scouting for the right space. Da Milano also plans to venture into airport retailing in Mumbai, Delhi and Cochin airports. “Next quarter, we are also planning to enter the footwear space along with a Spanish brand. The products will be mostly for women,” Malik adds. So far, they have 17 stores in India and their store in central New Delhi is the largest leather accessory store in the country. Malik says, the brand grew by 25-30 per cent in the year 2009-10.
