Mango launches its first store in Pakistan

As a part of its international retail expansion strategy,
Mangoopened its first store in Karachi, the financial and commercial capital of Pakistan. The store is located on the first floor of the Dolmen City Shopping Centre, one of the most popular shopping districts of Karachi.The Karachi store will be complemented with two more stores in other major Pakistani cities of Lahore and Islamabad. The Mango store in Lahore, will open its doors in August, while the Islamabad store opening is forecast for February 2013. Isak Halfon, Managing Partner and Expansion Director, said that the expansion of Mango in the area and Middle East is a great success, given that it now accounts for 9 per cent of the company’s annual turnover, making it one of the company’s expansion targets. Stores have opened in countries such as Saudi Arabia (51), Bahrain (5), UAE (16), Egypt (6), India (20), Iran (7), Iraq (1), Israel (18), Jordan (3), Kuwait (10), Lebanon (8), Oman (2), Pakistan (1), Qatar (8) and Syria (4), among many others.
Mango, which began its international expansion in 1992 with the opening of two franchises in Portugal, now has more than 2,500 stores in 108 countries and remains Spain’s most sought after international fashion brand. The company closed the 2011 financial year with a turnover of 1.408 billion euros ($1.73 billion or Rs 9,591 crores) for the Mango MNG Holding Consolidated Group and subsidiary companies.
