With an estimated growth target of 20 percent in the next financial year, jacket brand Solar Plus from Saras Fashion Clothing is expecting positive business in winter this year. As Executive Director-duo, Sanjeev and Rajeev Loomba say, “Last season was

very good for us. Winter lasted for a long time which gave ample opportunities to manufacturers to perform better. We registered around 15-20 percent growth in the last season. And expect good growth in the upcoming winters. The most positive factor has been the removal of excise which will benefit the industry on the overall scale.”

They
say there are no major leftovers with retailers or manufacturers from the last season. This clearly shows the upcoming winter season will be good. “We just have to be cautious in producing as per the demand,” they add. The brand has added pre-winter tunics in 16-17 designs for women for the forthcoming season. Talking about the product categories under the brand, they say, “We are making jackets for both men and women. We have added tunics in our ladies portfolio, these are pre-winter products. These are apt right for teenagers till the age of 40 years. Till date, tunics were produced only for summer so tunics for winter are a new innovation and addition. The samples have been liked many well-known retailers. We have also added T-shirts for summer.”

The brand was launched in 2006 with jackets and coats as major product categories. “For 35 years, we were into label tags. So we got into this line without too much difficulty. From the beginning we followed our instincts and did our own market surveys and created designs accordingly,” they explain about their journey into the winter wear market.

Solar Plus is present in Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Assam, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan. It is supplied to about 250 MBOs and the company looks forward to increasing the counters by 25 percent every year.
