At the Lakme Fashion Week spring/summer 2010, Mumbai designer Sabah Khan had

created a line based on the lives of Mumbai’s Dharavi slum dwellers and got commended for this by none other than Prince Charles. She had participated in the Lakme Fashion Week as a Gen Next designer. The concept presented at the fashion show was a theme called ‘No Class’, inspired from the slums of Dharavi one of Asia’s biggest slums. The blend of color, traditions, color schemes and digital prints incorporated aimed at reflecting the joy and energy of a city within the city of Mumbai.

Later when she came across Prince Charles’ recently released book, Harmony, where he had described Dharavi as a model for sustainable living that British towns could follow, Khan wrote to him introducing her line. Two weeks later she got an envelope with a Buckingham Palace seal and a letter where Charles in turn appreciated her work and wished her all the best. The designer has been mentored by Narender Kumar Ahmed and stylist Gautam Kalra.
