International children’s wear brand Adams will open its retailing account in India through a franchise

in the next few months. It may be recalled that Adams was recently acquired by UK-based apparel wholesaler XTC Clothing. The branded kids wear market in India is estimated to be around Rs 3,500 crores and many established brands are queuing up for a share of the market pie. Brands like Allen Solly, Arrow, Reebok, Puma, Woodland and Marks & Spencer have plans to enter the branded kids’ apparel market, where Catmoss, Gini & Jony and Lilliput are the main players. Private equity players have also cashed in on the market’s potential, with Everstone Capital recently exiting Lilliput for twice the amount it invested.

Meanwhile Adams Kids is celebrating its 75th year as the UK’s leading specialist children’s wear retailer. Over the last 75 years the company has continued to grow and now boasts of 500 UK distribution outlets and 103 international outlets in the Middle East and Europe. This ongoing presence has secured Adams’ unique position in the market place. It is the only true children’s wear specialist with a clear and distinctive brand proposition. From Amy Adams’ house in the Midlands to the expansive company it is today, Adams prides itself on its full understanding of the customer.
