AEPC hosts November edition of ‘India Market Days’

India Market Days, a project approved by the
Ministry of Textiles and funded under the Market Access Initiative (MAI) Scheme of Ministry of Commerce & Industry, for inviting overseas buyers and buying agents under reverse BSM, is currently being organised at the Apparel House in Gurgaon. The two-day event organised by Apparel Export Promotion Council (AEPC) ends today. It provides an opportunity to analyze and choose, from the wide spectrum of existing and emerging products at one place, analyze prevailing rates in the market, finalise bulk requirements and negotiate best rates for bulk orders.Commenting on the initiative, AEPC Chairman, A Sakthivel said, “AEPC by organizing India Market Days, is once again ready to provide an opportunity and a platform where wonderful products are displayed in the showrooms. Buyers’ may like to avail this opportunity to choose from the wide spectrum of products at one place.”
He points out that with the stabilization of rupee and structural changes in competing markets, India’s garment exports has significantly improved, “our performance is reflected in the stronger order book visibility for this season. Our exports have also grown because of tapping of new markets like Middle East, Latin America, Japan, Russia and Australia and our effort to leverage exports by export promotion events across the world,” he says. In recent months, large international buyers have diverted orders to India. Big brands and international chain stores like GAP, Zara, Mango, El Corte Inglés, Desigual, Tommy Hilfiger, Walmart, H&M, JC Penny, Target, etc are sourcing garments from India.
The event covered the entire value chain of the textile and clothing industry and included products like blouses, casual wear, children’s wear, co-ordinates, denim wear, infantswear, knitwear, ladies wear, men’s wear, shirts, shorts, silk garments, skirts, suits, sweat shirt, T-shirt, trousers, vest, cocktail dresses, evening dresses, bodysuit, briefs, home wear, fashion jewellery, outerwear, pareos, scarfs, stoles, handbags, cushion covers, bed covers, fabrics and more.
Over 100 showroom owners are exhibiting their latest collections to buyers from countries like Greece, Australia, Botswana, South Africa, Ecuador and USA. Next edition of India Market Days will be held from January 23 to 24, 2014 at Apparel House Gurgaon.
