Aiming to make designer wear accessible and affordable to masses,

Kimaya, owned by Pradeep and Neha Hirani has introduced their new brand Karmik at the Lakme Fashion Week Summer/Resort 2012 at the beginning of this year. The idea behind this concept was to reach out to Tier II cities like Ludhiana, Chandigarh, Jaipur, Hyderabad, Surat and Ahmedabad, which are showing potential for designer collection.

But how is Karmik able to offer affordable designer wear by renowned designers like Rohit Bal or JJ Valaya? It’s because Hirani has got intellectual property rights from these top designers. After designers send in a sample, the entire process of manufacturing, production and distribution is done in-house at Karmik, the designer in turn gets the revenue.

Pradeep Hirani, best known for Kimaya, one of the largest fashion houses in the country, now wants to expand horizons and after tying up with well-known names in the design industry such as Rohit Bal, JJ Valaya, Anamika Khanna, Rina Dhaka, Ranna Gill, Shantanu-Nikhil, Neeta Lulla, Rocky S and Falguni-Shane Peacock among others, he wishes to tie up with designers from Pakistan and Bangladesh. Currently, Karmik has six stores in India, two in Delhi, and one each in Mumbai, Bangalore, Chennai and Ludhiana. By the end of 2012, Hirani plans to launch 60 Karmik stores across India.
