Ahmedabad hosts 1st fashion show for blind

Dr Samir Mansuri the renowned Ahmedabad-based

ayurvedic doctor and managing trustee of Blinds’ Dream, hosted the first ever fashion show where models walking the ramp comprised of visually-challenged women. The show featured seven girls walking the ramp along with seven girls from the VLCC Institute who guided them. All the seven models belonged to Andh Kanya Prakash Gruh, an institute in Ahmedabad, which works for the blind. The girls sported bridal and retro clothes for the show. The orchestra for the ramp show comprised of blind singers. This was the first such fashion event with so many visually challenged participants venturing into the ramp.

Dr Mansuri, himself is visually challenged. He is known to diagnose ailments by feeling a patient’s pulse. Well known in Bollywood circles he has high profile patients like Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Salman Khan, Vivek Oberoi and Subhash Ghai. The doctor was very enthusiastic about the show and said he wanted to encourage the visually challenged with this unique show. The event was co-hosted by the Ahmedabad chapter of physical and beauty therapy institute VLCC. Reema Thakar of VLCC said, the girls showcased VLCC’s bridal theme. They wore collections for brides from four different religions viz. Hindu, Muslim, Sikh, Christians along with a retro look, which is trendy these days.
