Contrary to media reports doing the rounds in India about

luxury brand Alfred Dunhill winding up its India operations, a statement sent by the company has strongly denied it. The statement says: “Alfred Dunhill Ltd. has no intention of exiting the Indian market place. We are proud and committed to our loyal Indian customers and look forward to continuing to serve them.” The company says it has no intention of exiting the Indian market place and is scouting for a new local partner. Though the company has not yet disclosed the name of the new local partner.

It was reported widely in the Indian media that Dunhill was shutting all its three outlets in India run through a franchise deal with Brand House Retails, an SKNL group company owing to the economic slump and low consumer sentiment.

Since Alfred Dunhill opened his first international store in New York in 1921 the brand has always been committed to delivering the finest product and exceptional service in elegant, masculine surroundings around the world. Alfred Dunhill came to India four years ago in partnership with Brand House Retails, which also has Reid & Taylor, Belmonte and Carmichael House in its portfolio. Bollywood filmmaker Karan Johar was signed up as the face of the brand, which has British actor Jude Law as its international ambassador. Brand House has already closed Dunhill outlets in Mumbai and Bangalore. The brand also has a store at DLF Emporio Mall in Delhi.
