Anil Chopra quits Lakme

Anil Chopra, CEO of Lakme Lever has called it quits after spending over a decade with Hindustan

Unilever (HUL). This has taken the fashion fraternity by surprise. His move means, the fashion fraternity would not get to see him at the next Lakme India Fashion Week in his official capacity. After successfully inventing and running the Lakme India Fashion Week, his resignation came in as a surprise to many. But he puts an end to all speculations saying after working for 37 years, first in the Tata Group and then at Lakme, he wishes to do something different. He feels that media focussed only on his fashion side of work because of Lakme India Fashion Week but his responsibility as the CEO of Lakme Lever goes beyond the fashion week, making Lakme into a big beauty brand.

In all these years, he has formed a strong relationship with the fashion fraternity and is happy about the fact that while big names in the fashion business do not really need support, Lakme Fashion Week was able to push forward the smaller designers, who need a foothold to begin their journey. After taking a month’s break at his new address in Goa, he would head for a new assignment, which is still under wraps.
