Well-renowned for her ethnic wear collection of weaves,
embroidery and prints, fashion designer Anuradha Raman opened a new store at Meherchand Market, Lodhi Road, New Delhi. The interiors designed by by Punit Jasuja of Fireluxe Consulting and Architect Sujata Ranganathan, showcases a natural earthy palette of moss green, golden yellow and sunset orange which adds to the shopping ambience. It reveals Raman’s passion for art, fashion and music which are translated through her apparel collection as well as her artwork on display. The store displays her own paintings done in acrylic on canvas in an art form that is expressive yet experimental and which brings out an innovative dimension of her creativity.Ramans says she has used colors like orange, green and yellow because it symbolizes her brand which is young and pulsating with life and energy. While the artworks are a direct reflection of her progressive ideas, the furniture is minimal and functional.
Just like her designer wear, the overall theme of her outlet is young and trendy while steeped in traditional revelry. The store is in two levels with the ground floor stocking kurtas, kurtis, dupattas and stoles and the first floor displaying an exquisite range of saris. The innovative handmade designs in pure woven cotton and silk textiles showcase a fusion of elements and the unbridled passion of the designer. Raman uses colors generously. Her ramp shows are a riot of colors like turquoise, mustard yellow, fuschia pink and lemon yellow. She feels only if she can relate to a garment, can buyers be able to relate to it as well. “For me, the essence of my collection lies more in the color and the combination of prints and embroideries that I use," she comments about her design style.
