Australia’s Colette to open stores in India

Australia’s well known fast fashion retail chain, Colette is set to open large format stores in India. It has signed an

exclusive, 10-year master franchise agreement with Gurgaon-based retail start-up firm Brand Access.

The plan is to have 60 Colette stores over the next two-and-a-half years. The first store will come up in Mumbai. The stores will retail products about 40 percent cheaper than rivals and bring in new collections every week.

Colette by Colette Hayman is a fast fashion, accessories, jewelry and handbags firm based in Australia. It was set up four years ago and has 90 stores across Australia and New Zealand. Besides India, they are in the process of expanding to other markets in the Middle East and South Africa.

Brand Access, which also has offices in Singapore and facilitates the entry of brands into foreign countries, it has partnered other fashion firms in Southeast Asia such as Colcci and Blake & Company. The firm is in the process of signing franchise partnerships with global brands in the clothing and fashion space. The target is to bring in two non-competing brands into India a year.
