She was noticed as a child artist in Black the much acclaimed Hindi

film. But she has moved on in life. The young actress Ayesha Kapur has now opened an accessories store for girls in Mumbai’s Inorbit Mall. This is in addition to stores at Delhi, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, Chennai, Pondicherry and Pune. But the Inorbit store is the largest. The store offers bags, laptop sleeves, jewelry, hats, hair accessories, sunglasses, nail polish, lip glosses, things, in short, that a nymphet would love to surround herself with. And the best part about her line is everything is very affordable. From the time she was six, the 16-year-old would help her mother Jacqueline with merchandising. From a small store, Casablanca, which opened in Pondicherry in 1999, mother and daughter have built up a brand of decent proportions.

The collections are redolent of the 60s with flower motifs, polka hair bands, crochet headscarves, peace bracelets, heart-shaped earrings, chunky bangles, funky shades and colorful hair bands. Kapur is the daughter of Hidesign owner Dilip Kapur. Initially, the brand name was The Candy Shop but was changed to Ayesha since the young designer felt her name was pop-arty, fun and young--exactly what girls, their target audience, would connect with.
