Babul Supriyo designs Mohun Bagan jerseys

After successfully trying his hand at playback singing

and acting, singer Babul Supriyo has donned the designer’s cap to design and create jerseys for Kolkata-based football club Mohun Bagan. The century-old football club has a huge fan base both in Bengal and outside the state.

Suprio felt that the Club’s jersey lacked the right mix of signature green and maroon colours. His design was selected for the club’s 2012-2013 football season. The jersey was unveiled by legendary Dutch footballer Ruud Gullit during the Mohun Bagan Day 2012, which was celebrated in Netaji Indoor Stadium recently.

The Supriyo-designed jersey has been selected as the club’s official Home & Away costume for the 2012-‘13 football season. Babul’s proposal for an alternative to tie-breakers during matches has also been welcomed by the footballing fraternity with the proposal being sent to the international football association. Originally from Kolkata, Supriyo left a well-settled life there and moved to Mumbai in 1991 to try his luck in singing.
