Big Bazaar with 164 outlets across India is working on giving it a fresh look and feel to satisfy

customers’ demand for delightful shopping experience. After changing its tagline to ‘Naye India Ka Bazaar’, it is now putting efforts to pull back the loyal clientele. The 11-year-old chain is revamping its stores in major cities citing. Customers in metros such as Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore and others, who are used to shopping in modern retail formats are demanding better shopping experience and to fulfil their demand, the hypermarket has decided to match their expectations.

The freshly done up stores now have many changes such as neatly piled stocks of apparels in colourful racks, a live bakery, wider isle width at the food and grocery section among many others. While the concept of a typical bazaar, on which the chain was built years ago, remains intact, attention has been given to customers’ convenience and depth in categories.

Changes include an increase in cash counters at the stores, changed points of sale software to make billing faster, strengthening of the distribution centres which helped it get fill rates of 80 per cent compared to 55 to 60 per cent earlier, increase in the height of walls on the ground floor for better visibility of categories and initiatives like Seva, which aims at helping women with help of grinders.
