The Managing Director and CEO of Pantaloon Retail

, Kishore Biyani of Big Bazaar fame has now become a member of the New York Fashion Advisory Board at the at the invitation of New York City Economic Development Corporation (NYCEDC).
He will now advise fashionistas in the high streets of New York.

The chairman of the conglomerate has set a target of Rs 30,000 crores in sales from 30 million sq. ft. of retail space by 2013. The move is in line with the company’s plans to attain Rs 13,000 crores revenue target by July 2011. The foray into the real estate business for building ready-to-move-in houses is part of the plan. Future Group has formed a 50:50 joint venture with a Kolkata-based developer in a bid to offer branded, ready-to-move-in homes to the masses primarily in metros.

In 2001, Biyani evolved a pan-Indian, class-less model — Big Bazaar, a hypermarket chain, leading to the democratization of shopping in India. The Future Group operates through six verticals: Future Retail (encompassing all lines of retail business), Future Capital (financial products and services), Future Brands (all brands owned or managed by group companies), Future Space (management of retail real estate), Future Logistics (management of supply chain and distribution) and Future Media (development and management of retail media spaces). Moreover the group is also keen to enter the hospitality industry with its own chain of hotels and will upgrade its loyalty and direct marketing programs. There would be a new loyalty card which can be used across the group companies.
