Caravan Craft debuts in Pune

After opening a store in Bangalore, Caravan Craft Retail (CCRPL) has opened doors to a new

store in Pune’s Phoenix Market City, spread over 2,800 square foot. Caravan Craft’s aim is to revive artisans and their art and promote Indian crafts.

The new store offers a wide range of handcrafted products from apparels to home décor and jewellery, toys and gifts having a blend of traditional crafts with modern day designs. In the apparel line, contemporary designs and cuts are blended with authentic crafts such as applique, jamdani, kalamkari et al, to create women’s wear in fine hand-woven muslin and cotton fabrics.

The home textiles segment has bright-coloured cushion covers, curtains, tablemats and runners embellished with craftwork like Zardozi, hand embroidery and block printing. An exquisite limited edition jewellery collection combines dhokra with silver and cubic Zirconia (CZ). This collection displays one of the finest demonstrations of Indian craftsmanship. Each piece is a complex and intricate fusion of different materials and technical detail.

The fusion of technology with craft is another interesting direction the brand has taken. USB memory sticks and digital photo frames adorned with Bidri silver inlay are exclusive. Caravan had made a conscious and evident attempt to marry contemporary needs of a modern discerning customer and the rich heritage of Indian craft. The venture is funded by Unitus Seed Fund and NSDC (National Skill Development Corporation).
