Renowned fashion designer Wendell Rodricks has designed uniforms for the enforcement department of CBI. The department

had approached him to create a new uniform design for its force, after he was conferred with ‘Padmashree’ award. The designer has already handed over a sample design of the uniform to the CBI officials.

The designer had earlier styled Goa Police's blue-white uniform, which is currently donned by the traffic police personnel. According to him, the black uniform with a red logo, styled for CBI, would surely create fear as well as respect in peoples’ minds.

The designer is known for his ability to blend ancient Indian geometry with Goa’s relaxed style. He got trained in Los Angeles and Paris. After designing for companies like Garden Vareli, cosmetic giant Lakme and diamond corporate DeBeers, the designer established his own label in 1990.

He has also documented fashion history of Goa through a pictorial book called ‘Moda Goa’, his tribute to the state. In this book published by HarperCollins India, he says that Goa was the cradle of Indo-Western couture. He felt the need to document Goa’s fashion history through a pictorial presentation when he realised that there was no authentic source on the history of clothes in Goa except some clothes in the Portuguese museum.
