After the successful innings of two fashion weeks, one in Mumbai and the other in Delhi,

Chennai’s too followed suit and hosted the fashion fraternity with the Gitanjali Lifestyle Chennai International Fashion Week Season 3. The 3-day event from April 14 to 16 was held at Hotel Ambassador Pallavab. A bevy of 13 designers showcased their collections along with four titled shows and over 50 male and female models walking the ramp. Unlike the recently concluded Wills Lifestyle Fashion Week 2011 where designers steered away from Bollywood celebs keeping the main focus on clothes and creativity, a special anniversary show on April 14 in Chennai featured several young and successful south Indian stars.

The Chennai International Fashion Week (CIFW) has been the pioneers of international fashion event in the southern states. And over time it has grown in stature. The event addresses the needs of established designers and fashion buyers, both domestic and foreign and provides a platform for aspiring models to walk the ramp. According to Gaurav Sharma, CEO of Storm Fashion, the main motivators behind the event henceforth Chennai International Fashion Week will have two events each year -- the spring/summer and autumn/winter in the latter part of the year. He feels that emerging designers and aspiring models can use this platform to their advantage to lift their careers to newer heights of glory.
