Citizen offers affordable luxe range in India

Japanese watch player Citizen Watches will launch a new line of

watches at an affordable price tag with an aim to become an affordable luxury watch brand in India. According to Katsusuke Tokura, Managing Director, Citizen Watches India, the brand will unveil new models across price points.

However, in the highlight would be the high-end line of timepieces that bring in bulk sales. Citizen is exploring ways of establishing presence in the country and is also looking at India becoming among the top 10 markets in the next 5-10 years.

Citizen sells 500 watch models in India, priced in the range of Rs 5,000 to Rs 1.95 lakh. Its top markets include Japan, US, China and Europe. The company, which recently launched high-end 'Promaster' collection priced between Rs 55,000 to Rs 1,95,000, has launched 15 models so far this year. Citizen Watches India is part of Japan's Citizen Watches Holdings, a 2.73 billion dollars (Rs 16,890 crores) company. The company has brought English cricketer Kevin Pietersen on board as its brand ambassador to enhance brand image in India.
