The FDCI have declared the dates of its much awaited Couture Week. The fashion extravaganza
is scheduled from July 20-25, 2010 at the Grand Vasant Kunj, New Delhi. The title sponsor for the event is the Pearls Group so, the week will be called Pearls Delhi Couture Week. Sunil Sethi, FDCI, President says they have brought together the best couturiers in the country to create an exclusive platform in the wake of increasing demand for this segment. The event will have 13 top notch designers showcasing their designs on ramp. Moreover, six other designers have been shortlisted to showcase their designs as a part of the installation. As for the splitting of shows, there will be two shows everyday -- one at 8 pm followed by the other at 9 pm, while one of these will have an off-site show.The participating designers showcasing on the runway are: Abu Jani and Sandeep Khosla, Anamika Khanna, AZA presents Manish Malhotra, Gaurav Gupta, J J Valaya, Manav Gangwani, Pallavi Jaikishan, Raakesh Agarvwal, Rina Dhaka, Rohit Bal, Sabyasachi Mukherjee, Suneet Varma, Varun Bahl. And the special installations will be designed by: Ekru by Ekta and Ruchira, Geisha designs by Paras and Shalini, Jaya Rathore, Monapali, Reynu Taandon, Satya Paul.
Designer Rohit Bal will be doing the off-site show at the event. Though Bollywood stars always want to be associated with fashion, this time many of them would be attending the shows as audience, but not as showstoppers. M L Shejpal, Director, PIPL, speaking about why they decided to join hands with FDCI said that Pearls has supported fashion for the past three years through their P7 channel and with this they take a bigger step ahead.
