Crocs to expand India business

The US-based premium footwear brand Crocs plans to expand its India business by doubling

the number of exclusive stores by next year. The company, which entered the Indian market in 2007 under a joint venture with Chogori Footwear, is looking to increase its presence in the multi-branded outlets with an eye to tap the Tier II cities. It’s also foraying into the mid-priced segment.
The company aims to end the year 2010 with up to 25 exclusive outlets, up from 11 as of now. The $825 million (Rs 3,760 crores) footwear maker has around 250 large format and multi-branded stores across India, including Metro, Lifestyle and Planet Sports. This year Crocs is also looking at entering another 100 multi-branded outlets. According to Mike Debell, Crocs Vice-President (South Asia) they are looking at places like Delhi NCR, Mumbai, Bangalore and Pune for opening their exclusive brand outlets. Crocs shoes which are sold in more than 125 countries come in a wide array of colors and styles.
